City of Red Deer crews are continuing to make progress on the 19 Street Improvement Project.

Today (Sept. 3), Sept. 4, 8, and 9 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. traffic will be detoured to one lane in each direction.

All intersections on 19 Street between Irwin Avenue and Gaetz Avenue will be right-in and right-out only to keep traffic flowing through the area.

During the evenings, all intersections will revert to all turns.

Crews will begin to sweep and oil the westbound lanes today in preparation for paving to begin on westbound lanes between 40 Avenue and Gaetz Avenue on Wednesday.

The intersection of 19 Street and Sharpe Avenue will be closed for up to three hours between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Flag people will be on-site to inform drivers entering the complex of the closure and to provide them with the option to park at Westerner Park and either walk or catch a shuttle into the Sharpe Avenue complex.

On Sept. 8, the eastbound lanes will be swept and oiled, and paving will begin on the eastbound lanes on Sept. 9.

For the final time during the project, the intersections on 19 Street between Irwin Avenue and Gaetz Avenue will be right-in and right-out only until paving is complete.

The intersections of 46 Avenue and 19 Street and 49 Avenue and 19 Street will be closed for up to three hours. Access to businesses on 49 Avenue will be maintained while work is being completed.

On Sept. 6, 7, 10, and 11, there will be intermittent lane closures for line painting.

Drivers are reminded to slow down in construction zones and obey all signs.
