Plenty of sunshine is expected for the Labour Day long weekend

With school back in session next week, this long weekend will see many people enjoy one final chance to enjoy the summer break.

It looks like the weather will cooperate with those potential plans.

Environment and Climate Change Canada Meteorologist Terri Lang says the forecast this weekend is promising.

“Does look like a good long weekend coming through, we have a ridge of high pressure starting to build in, ridges of high pressure tend to give us nice weather, dry weather, and should be bringing us some warm weather.”

Most farmers will likely be in the field working on this year’s harvest, and Lang said the rain shouldn’t slow them down anytime soon.

With September beginning on Sunday, frost could be arriving sooner than later. Lang said it could be a little bit colder overnight very soon.

“At the end of next week, an arctic ridge will be building down, “she said, “I think there’s a chance of frost towards the end of next week, so it’s something to keep an eye on.”

Lang noted on average the first sign of frost is around September 16.
