Estevan Minor Football kicks off its season this weekend, with the first games taking place in Moose Jaw on Saturday.

Both the U12 Chargers and the U14 Oilers will take to the field. U14 Oilers head coach Christian Pfeifer noted that an increase in athletes has led to more effective practices.

“I’m very happy with the turnout that we’ve had as opposed to last year. We’re usually averaging around 20 to 22 kids at practices,” Pfeifer said. “Then we can run the offence that we need, we can run the defense that we need.”

“I’m confident that we can give them a good run for their money. It’s, it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Pfeifer is in his first year as head coach and is excited to see how the season unfolds. He believes the team’s efforts in practice will pay off.

“So now we  get to reap the rewards and watch them go out there and have some fun playing some football.”

“My biggest expectation is they can go out there and they can utilize everything that we’ve been teaching them for the past couple of weeks. They can go out there, they can have some fun and they can play a really good complete game of football.”
