If you are planning to head out for the long weekend, here is a list of fire advisories in effect for Central Alberta.

Ponoka-Ponoka County-Summer Village of Parkland Beach-Rimbey

A fire advisory is in place.

Under the advisory, open burn and fireworks discharge permits are approved on a case-by-case basis.

What’s allowed:

  • Backyard fire pit and burning barrel with a mesh screen that’s always attended

  • Incinerators (for farm and acreage use)

  • Barbeque (propane/charcoal briquette) and smokers

  • Gas and liquid-powered appliances (stoves, lanterns, and propane fire rings)

County of Stettler

A fire restriction is in effect.

What’s allowed:

  • Essential burning in barrels that are constructed of non-combustible material that have a tight-fitting metal mesh screen with openings not larger than 13 mm

  • Backyard fire pits, safe wood campfires, portable propane fire pits, gas or propane stoves and barbecues

Off-highway vehicles and farming equipment can start wildfires. Inspect your equipment frequently to ensure hot spots are free of debris, and make sure mufflers and spark arrestors are working properly.
