Everett Hindley has announced he is once again seeking re-election as MLA for Swift Current, with the Sask. Party.
Hindley opened up his campaign with a barbecue last night in Hansen Park, which is itself located in Kinetic Park.
Hindley has served as MLA for Swift Current since he was first elected in 2018.
"I'm running again for a third time this fall in the 2024 election because I think it's important to me," said Hindley. "I'm honoured and privileged to be able to serve as an MLA here for the City of Swift Current and it's a job I take pretty seriously."
Hindley has been a resident of Swift Current since 1996 and began working for the Saskatchewan Party in 1999 as the constituency assistant for Brad Wall, who was the MLA for Swift Current at the time.
Hindley would eventually go on to become Wall's executive assistant when the latter became Premier in 2007.
In 2018, Hindley ran and won the seat as MLA for Swift Current.
"I wanted to kind of take the next step and become the MLA for the City of Swift Current," said Hindley. "I really try to do as good of a job as I can, connecting with people, talking to people, finding out what are the issues for the citizens of this constituency and being able to be that representative, and be their voice for them."
After securing his nomination, he won the MLA seat for Swift Current and has been reelected for each term since.
Hindley plans to continue the work he has been doing. Having served as both minister of Mental Health and Addictions, Seniors and Rural and Remote Health, and minister of Health, he has had many opportunities to enact change across the province.
"No government is perfect and we've never said that we are perfect or compared ourselves to perfection. But we're always trying to do a better job of serving the people that we are elected to serve."
The provincial general elections are slated for October 28th.
