Kenneth Jacob Stroeder
April 28, 1951 – August 30, 2024

The death of Kenneth “Ken” Jacob Stroeder of Humboldt, SK, occurred on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.  Ken was born on April 28, 1951, in Humboldt. He grew up on the farm near Marysburg, SK, with his brothers and sisters. He suffered from anxiety from early on and had issues at school where his anxiety would get the best of him. He would lock horns with the teachers, but in later years Ken and Daniel knocked on the teacher’s door and requested hot chocolate, this was his way of saying sorry! Therefore, he was the recipient of many conflicts, and he quit school several times but eventually would return. In his younger years, Ken loved playing music, dancing and to cook. He would often create new dishes which he offered to whoever stopped by. He also loved to hunt and fish. Ken liked company and would put out sausage, cheese, jujubes, etc. for them to enjoy and certainly he had some wild stories to be told. Ken was not lazy, and worked in BC, Yellowknife and in the surrounding area. If he had a job, he would put his all into it, but then anxiety would get to him, and he would quit. Hopefully someday mental illness will be treated like cancer, broken bones etc. Another passion was to tinker on his vehicles, sometimes too much. Ken loved children- his eyes would light up when his nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces would be around! Many of them loved being around Uncle Kenny as he would always have treats for everyone. He was kind, soft spoken to the elderly and those who were kind to him. When he was a little boy mom was looking for him- he was in the pasture, sleeping by the calves. Ken lived a simple life- small things meant a lot to him- a T-shirt, a plaque, Christmas cards or clothing that he got. Ken will be remembered by four sisters: Ruth (Benno) Barlage, Ann Zelle, Karen Ferguson, and Judy (Paul) Ulrich; two brothers: Kevin (Allyson) Stroeder and Anthony (Sandy) Stroeder, Jr.; sisters-in-law: Josephine Stroeder, Janet Stroeder, and Bernie Stroeder; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Mary (née Albers) Stroeder; eight sisters: Marie and Elizabeth (in infancy), Virginia (Arnie) Thimm, Mary (Art) Lamping, Nettie Stroeder, Grace Bautz, Millie (Ray) Hofmann and Marina Stroeder; three brothers: Randy Stroeder, Melvin Stroeder, and Bob Stroeder; and by brothers-in-law Cam Ferguson and Roger Zelle. A private graveside service was held on Monday, September 9, 2024 at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Cemetery, Humboldt SK, officiated by Wayne Bautz.
