Altona officials are very happy with how this Summer's road construction projects have turned out. Mayor Harv Schroeder noted there are now quite a few new smoothly paved streets and paths around town.

"As I’m sure you noticed, we have completed the big road repair project which has led to many smooth new streets and paths," he explained. "The goals for this project were to upgrade the condition of the roads, extend the life of these streets, and make improvements to drainage."

The mill and fill process covered 15 larger areas and fixed 2 frost boils, but that wasn't all the town was able to get done.

"We were also able to add seven more small repairs that were not initially included in our plan," Schroeder said. "Additionally, the trail along Millennium Drive from 10th Ave NW to Creekbend Cove has been completed, as well as a path in the Community Garden."

Meanwhile, the Mayor noted the town's new columbarium was officially installed last week at the Altona Cemetery.
