Diamond Valley Fire Rescue (DVFR) were busy this past weekend.
On Friday, August 30th, they responded to a call about a structure fire in Eden Valley and a CO alarm call.
Then, on August 31st, the DVFR received multiple calls for help, with one of them being a technical rescue.
"At about 6:15 on August 31st, a lady was out walking her dog in Turner Valley and her dog kind of led her down a pathway that took her near the river down a steep embankment," explained Diamond Valley Fire Chief T.J. Moore.
It was there that she became precariously stuck and called 9-1-1.
While the DVFR didn't know the exact location of the lady and her dog when they received the call, they sent out a drone to help them locate her and her dog, which the drone operators were able to do.
On top of locating the dog walker, the drone operators were able to help direct fire crews to a good staging location where they could set up and deploy a rope rescue.
Squad 2 from Station 2, along with the DVFR Duty Chief and the Deputy Chief, responded to the call.
"Where we lowered a technical rescue rope technician down to help her and connect to the rope system and lower her down to the riverbed. Once they were down near the river, they were able to cross the river and get to the ambulance where they were assessed and treated for minor injuries for herself and her dog."
While crews were helping the dog walker, the DFVR received a call about a motor vehicle collision on Highway 762.
It was a motorcycle collision that occurred at the intersection of Highway 549 and 762, and they sent a fire truck to go assist the motorcycle driver and his passenger.
This was after they had already received a call to assist AHS EMS earlier in the day.
