The Cochrane Cobras football team has started the season ranked number two among 3A high schools in the province.

In their season home opener, Aug. 30, they downed the Chestermere Lakers, 28-3.

Football Alberta ranks Lloydminster's Holy Rosary number one after they shut out Edmonton's Ross Sheppard Thunderbirds, 37-0.

The Cobras are on the road this Friday to face the Bert Church Chargers, who won their season opener against the Springbank Phoenix, 13-6.

Crosstown, the Bow Valley Bobcats were shut out 48-0 by the powerhouse George McDougall Mustangs.

The Bobcats are celebrating their season home opener this Saturday afternoon. The Phoenix are in town for a 1 p.m. game.

Eight teams are competing in the 50th season of high school football in Rocky View schools.
