Trivia lovers, this one is for you.

The Cochrane Kiwanis Club is holding a Trivia Night Fundraiser in support of their Christmas Toy project for children of low-income families.

It's being held on Sept. 20 at the St. Mary's Church, 10 River Heights Dr., for those over 16 years old.

Teams of six will be answering a series of 10 questions on eight topics.

Without giving too much away, Ron Gosselin, of the Kiwanis, gives an example of the type of question that may be asked.

"They may be given a snippet of about 20 seconds of somebody singing a song, and then they'll have to tell me the name of the song."

Besides trivia, the evening includes a light dinner, silent auction, cash bar, and they'll be plenty of opportunities to socialize. It's $40 when you register as an individual or $200 for a team of six.

The Annual Christmas Toy project of the Kiwanis is one of their signature projects. It allows children in need identified by Cochrane Family and Community Support Services to shop for their own Christmas gift.

Members of the Cochrane Generals junior hockey team assist the Kiwanis in guiding the youth on their shopping trip. Each child also receives a goody bag, stuffed animals and a visit with Santa.

Gosselin says almost 800 children have celebrated Christmas magic with the Kiwanis over the last six years, and they expect upwards of 200 children will participate this year.

The goal is to raise $4,000 from the trivia night.
