Recognizing the accomplishments of their high school graduates was important to the recently formed Black Cochrane Community organization.

On Aug. 19, they held a celebration and presented them with gifts before some of them departed for university.

Chefya Mate says as the organization blossoms, they hope to offer scholarships for some of the graduates.

Adaeze Ogboruche and Jonathan Myers both graduated from St. Timothy High School and Abigael Adedeji is a Cochrane High graduate.

Adaeze was awarded a $60,000 scholarship to study mechanical engineering at Queen's University and was St. Timothy's valedictorian for the Class of 2024.
