New EV charging stations are being installed in Okotoks

Okotoks is getting another new set of electric vehicle (EV) chargers.

Work is underway to install new EV chargers at the recently renamed Viking Rentals Centre, with funding from Aviva Canada’s Charged for Change program and Earth Day Canada.

Okotoks was one of eight municipalities to receive funding through the program in 2024 and was the only municipality west of Ontario to do so.

The new Level 2 chargers will include a fee of $2 per hour plus GST, as per the 2024 rates and fees bylaw.

Other Level 2 charging stations in town include those at the Municipal Centre and Okotoks Arts and Learning Campus, with Level 1 chargers available at the Operations Centre.

Work on the new set of EV chargers is expected to be complete by November.
