In the words of an internationally acclaimed writer -- "I think I've seen this film before..."
It was only yesterday that motorists had to be careful on the roads due to a dense fog that fell on the southeast. Now, Environment Canada has placed southeast Saskatchewan on an air quality advisory due to heavy smoke, affecting visibility again.
Over 60 wildfires are burning in the northern parts of the province, according to firesmoke.ca. Environment Canada said that a cold front passing through the area is to blame for the smoke being carried to the south. There are also small burns being tracked near Alameda and Benson. Gusty winds throughout the day will continue to spread the smoke, with the weather agency predicting that it will dissipate later today.
Environment Canada urges the public to limit their time outside due to the risks associated with heavy wildfire smoke. Keep an eye out for the weather on our Weather page here.
