The Red Deer area now has increased access to primary care, with the arrival of two new physicians.

Dr. Adeola Adeyemo and Dr. Tolulope Shittu have joined the Branch Medical Clinic and will provide hospitalist coverage at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.

Both physicians completed their medical education in Nigeria and bring nearly 15 years of clinical experience to their practice.

The Branch Clinic now has five physicians serving Red Deer residents.

“We are excited to welcome these two exceptional physicians to our community,” said Adriana LaGrange, Minister of Health and MLA for Red Deer-North. “Dr. Adeyemo and Dr. Shittu are great additions to our local care team and will play a significant role in providing access to primary and emergency care for our residents.”

Adeyemo’s interest in practicing in Red Deer stems from his desire to be part of a close-knit community, where he can make a meaningful impact on the lives of his patients.

“The warmth and friendliness of Red Deer residents has always inspired me, and I am thrilled to contribute to the health and well-being of this wonderful community,” Adeyemo said.

Shittu added, “I am passionate about delivering comprehensive and patient–centred care to individuals and families.”

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is continuing to recruit physicians across the Central Zone to meet community needs.

AHS has physician resource planners who are working to identify and pursue international and domestic physician recruitment opportunities.

They work closely with various community partners and organizations, such as the Rural Health Professions Action Plan, and independent physician recruitment and retention committees.

Individuals needing a family doctor can call 403-986-8600 to arrange a meet-and-greet appointment.
