The 14th Annual Bionic Golf Tournament is happening this Friday, September 6th, at the Gull Lake Golf Course.

Golfers will be teeing off for the event which is held in support of organ donations for the Human Organ Procurement Exchange (HOPE) at the University of Alberta Hospital Foundation.

Last year, the event raised over $41,000. Tyson Czuy one of the main organizers of the event, says this year's goal is to raise $50,000. He explains why it is so close to his heart.

"My father actually needed a double lung transplant. It would have been eight years ago now, so just walking through that process of waiting on the list and thenĀ  we were blessed. He received the set of lungs andĀ  we got an extra 7 years with him. That's why it's so close to me."

Czuy also explains that it's more than just himself organizing the event which happens every year with the help of the Gull Lake Golf Course.

"We have an amazing committee that is about six of us on the committee and then we typically get about 20 people volunteering for the day of. So it it's just amazing."

There will be a live and silent auction at the tournament so local businesses are still being asked to donate if they can.
