A Night of Comedy and Music, a fundraiser for the Weyburn Communithon, is coming up Friday, September 13th.

The 19+ event will be held at the Weyburn Legion, and will feature Comedian Kelly Taylor.

The $60 cash-only tickets will be on sale at Old Fashion Foods or the Welsh Kitchen until September 11th, which means no tickets will be available at the door.

Communications Committee Chair, Raven Daer said the evening kicks off with cocktails at 6:30 p.m., followed by a roast beef dinner at 7 p.m.

"Following the dinner, you can prepare to be entertained by the handsome and talented Saskatoon-based comedian Kelly Taylor, who is known for his signature Saskatchewan humour, and the evening will conclude with music and dancing, led by Weyburn's very own, extremely talented Richy Roy," she shared, adding that the event will conclude at midnight.

Daer said the event will benefit the eight vital organizations within Weyburn participating in this year's Communithon. Many of the board members of the non-profits will also be helping out that evening.

"This is what is so wonderful about the Communithon, is that there are not very many charities or fundraisers that you can actually put your money into that will support a number of organizations and vital services within the community. Some of these services are mentoring programs, counseling and support services, mental health education and advocacy, wheelchair accessible transportation, support for individuals with sight loss, and the list honestly just goes on," Daer commented.

"The Weyburn Communithon is truly just a vital fundraiser for our community."

She said all of the proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly to the 43rd annual Communithon, which is dispersed between the eight organizations.

"It's really going to be just a wonderful kickoff to fall back to school and the kickoff to Communithon as well," added Daer. "We're always looking for an excuse to grab a group of friends or family and head out and do something within the community. Because, let's face it, Weyburn doesn't always have a lot of events going on, so it is really important that we do support the ones that are taking place."

The Communithon will be held at the Weyburn Legion this year on October 25th.
