Mac 'Big' Laursen is defending his BFL welterweight title tonight in Vancouver with his eye set on proving he belongs in the UFC.

'Big' faces Ashton Charlton, of Spokane, WA, in BFL 81, amply promoted as World War 2. Last spring in 'World War' he dethroned defending champion Dejan Dejan Kajić of Vancouver, B.C.

"I want to show that I'm a true champion," Big told Cochrane Now in an interview earlier this summer while training at Teofista Boxing in Bearspaw. "You're not a real champion until you defend your belt once. Fighting a young, hungry guy like Ashton Charlton shows I'm ready for the big step in this game."

Charlton, 6'1", 170.6 lbs., has an 8-2 record and is coming off a win against Canadian Ash Mashraghl in May.
