The Heritage Junior Hockey League (HJHL) is all set for another season.

The High River Flyers start the season by hopping on a bus and heading up to Didsbury to tangle with the Mountainview Colts for a Friday night melee.

The Flyers had an amazing playoff run last year and will look to replicate that to start the season.

Flyers President Tim Bradbury says the team's excited to get going.

"There's some good players out there and I feel we're going to be just as competitive last year and hungry for success."

The one team that stood in the Flyers way during last year's playoffs was the Carstar Okotoks Bisons.

The two long-time rivals went head-to-head in the second round with the Herd going on to win their third consecutive HJHL Championship last year after beating the Flyers.

The Bisons also get a break in the exhibition season with only one pre-season game and that's not till next Friday, September 13 when they host the Agra Risk Strathmore Wheatland Kings.

One item of note, the Flyers won't play their first home game of the season until November 1 as the ongoing renovation work on the main ice surface at the Bob Snodgrass Rec Plex has been delayed.
