A case of stolen cars reported back in August has finally seen a person arrested in a neighbouring province
On August 21, the Broadview RCMP were advised by the RCMP in Manitoba that a stolen truck was heading to their area. Moosomin RCMP spotted the truck on Highway 8 north of Moosomin and attempted to pull the vehicle over. The driver did not pull over and fled the scene.
Later that day around 3:30 p.m., RCMP received a report of a Ford F-150 being stolen from a home in Rocanville. The vehicle was then seen in Moosomin around 5:00 p.m., and again officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the F-150 did not pull over.
Later patrols then found the initial Dodge truck abandoned in a rural area near Rocanville.
It was found that their suspect was 35-year-old David Penner, who was wanted on a number of outstanding warrants in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
On August 22, Penner was arrested in Manitoba with a slate of charges coming from an investigation by the Moosomin RCMP:
- two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.
- five counts of possession of property obtained by crime less than $5000.
- one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
- one count of flight from a peace officer.
- two counts of fraud less than $5000.
Penner is scheduled to appear in court in Moosomin on September 24.
