Even though summer is coming to a close, there is still plenty to do this weekend in Foothills County.
Luckily, the forecast is calling for a clear, sunny sky and highs in the low 30s all weekend.
Friday
- The Okotoks Farmer's Market will be at the Viking Rental Center parking lot from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, September 6th.
- The Town of Okotoks will be hosting Movies in the Park beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Ethel Tucker Park, where they'll be screening The Incredibles and Footloose.
- Friday nights are Youth Night at the Okotoks Rec Centre, which gives youth exclusive access to the Youth Centre, the ORC Gymnasium, and the pools from 6 to 10 p.m.
- Millarville Chuckwagons, Chariots & Bulls Under the Lights 2024 will kick off on the night of Friday, September 6th, and it runs all weekend at the Millarville Racetrack.
Saturday
- The High River Half is being held at George Lane Park at 9 a.m. It's a fundraiser for the Foothills Advocacy in Motion society, and will feature a 10km and 5km runs, as well as a kid's fun run.
- The Threshing Day Celebration is being held at High River's Sheppard Family Park from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- The Okotoks Film Festival will be hosting a Pop-Up Summer Flicks event at the downtown plaza in Okotoks, where they will be showing short films at 7, 8, and 9 o'clock on Saturday, September 7th.
- Elma Street in Okotoks will be filled with art on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the Elma Street ARTSWalk will be taking place. There will be crafters, makers, painters, and performers, and admission is free.
- The Sheep River Parkrun is also helping on Saturday, September 7th, starting at 9 a.m. It's a free 5k community event that includes walking, jogging, running, and volunteering, and takes place at the Sheep River Park.
Sunday
- The Okotoks Art Gallery will be hosting a free Family History Portraits workshop from 1 to 4 p.m., where artist Stacey Walyuchow will use mixed-media techniques to help capture the life and story of loved ones.
