The High River RCMP and Citizens on Patrol teamed up last Thursday night (Sept. 5) for a 'lock it or lose it' campaign.

High River RCMP Constable Manpreet Kaler says they check vehicles to see if they are locked and valuables, if there are any, are out of sight.

Kaler says they didn't give out tickets, just reminders.

"We were in Montrose doing a lock it or lose it campaign with High River's Citizens on Patrol and it went well. We tagged a bunch of cars, and we spoke with a bunch of citizens there and just reminded them to keep all their valuables locked up."

However, Kaler added they did come across a potentially dangerous situation.

"I think the worst that we had was one SUV, there was a person in the backseat. And a key fob was actually left behind in the car. That's something that we don't recommend."

Kaler also mentioned keeping your bikes locked up too, and mentioned that there is a program to register your bike with a national registry.
