The RCMP have detailed the charges laid against a Winnipeg man after a chase and series of vehicle thefts in southeast Saskatchewan.

Back on August 21st, the Broadview RCMP were given a heads up about a Dodge truck that had been stolen in Manitoba and was headed towards their detachment. The Moosomin RCMP would attempt to stop the vehicle on Highway 8 near Rocanville, but it proceeded to flee. The truck was then later located near Rocanville after a separate vehicle was stolen from that community.

The suspect, 35-year-old Dustin Penner of Winnipeg, was wanted by Carlyle RCMP for a charge of theft under $5,000, as well as breaching court conditions. He was also wanted on multiple warrants by the RCMP in Manitoba.

Penner would be arrested on August 22nd, and the incidents that happened in the Broadview area were further investigated. The investigation culminated in the announcement of 11 charges Thursday by the RCMP. Those charges include two counts of possession of property obtained by crime with a value over $5,000; five counts of possession of property obtained by crime with a value of under $5,000; one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle; one count of flight from a peace officer; and two counts of fraud under $5,000.

Penner is scheduled to make his next appearance in court on these charges in Moosomin on September 24th.
