IN PEACE I WILL BOTH LIE DOWN AND SLEEP; FOR YOU ALONE, O LORD, MAKE ME DWELL IN SAFETY. PSALM 4:8
Theresa Marie St. Goddard (Ducharme)
With saddened hearts, the family of Theresa St. Goddard, announces the passing of an extraordinary woman. Theresa entered into rest to await her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, on September 2nd, 2024.
Theresa arrived on November 17th, 1951 in Portage la Prairie, MB. She was the twelfth of sixteen children born to Phillip and Aldea Ducharme. Mom received her early education in St. Ambroise and later attended Prince Charles school in Portage. On September 12th, 1970 she married Carl St. Goddard. In St. Ambroise, they raised their two children, Curt and Serena. Mom and dad were married for 46 years.
Theresa was a woman with many interests and talents. She enjoyed crocheting and made countless of items for friends and family. Mom loved music and dancing, especially when performed by her husband or her brothers and sisters. Her hobbies included playing board games with her nieces, Sandra and Audrey. She loved playing cribbage, going to bingo and she enjoyed attending South Beach Casino with her sister Maryanne. Mom worked for McCain Foods in the early years and also worked the Oakville Mushroom Farm, where she made a lot of friends! Mom travelled Canada and lived in Edmonton, Alberta for some time.
St. Ambroise was always her home. Theresa looked forward to working with her sister Claire each autumn at the Decoy Hunting Lodge. These were fun times for her in her later years. Above all, her time loving Lydia and caring for her gave her blessed joy. The birth of her great grandchild Josephine, completed and filled mom’s life with pure happiness. Having Theresa for a friend meant having a true friend for life.
Mom lived with her sister Cathy (Beaver) for 27 years. Aunty beaver took care of mom for as long as she could. The past three years were the hardest on our mom. Curt and I can never thank you enough Aunty Beaver. Mom kept her faith and fought hard to stay strong for us in spite of life’s challenges.
Theresa was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband and twelve siblings. She is survived by her faithful and dear son Curt (Trey) her daughter Serena (Michael), her granddaughter Lydia (Kaiden) her great grandchild Josephine.
We would like to thank Dr. Nichols and the rehabilitation staff of Portage General Hospital for all the care and friendships that were made, this helped mom throughout her illness. Thank you to all who prayed for our mom, brought gifts of food, sent a text and dropped by for visits. Everything you have done has made this time much more endurable.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made towards the care and maintenance of the St. Ambroise cemetery grounds, c/o Good Shephard Catholic Church, 1125 Saskatchewan Ave E, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3Y8.
