The following is the RCMP report to September 1, 2024.  This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.

- 34 traffic violations

- 20 provincial statute (Mental Health Act, Fire Prevention Act, Coroner's Act, 911 Act)

- 27 common police activities (alarms, suspicious persons/vehicles, assistance to general public)

- 48 crimes against property 

- 18 other criminal code

- 14 crimes against person

- 1 traffic accidents

 

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

 

Just a reminder that RCMP DO NOT do child abuse and adult abuse registry checks.  RCMP is responsible for criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks.  You require a vulnerable sector check if you are in a position of trust. You must present to the detachment when applying for a vulnerable sector check. 

 

Position of Trust means a paid or voluntary position dealing with vulnerable people. Vulnerable people may include children, youth, the elderly, people with physical, developmental, emotional, social, or other disabilities, people who are addicted or dependent on addictive substances, and people who have been the victim of a crime or an accident.

Applicants who require a Vulnerable Sector Check from their organization must present themselves in person and provide written consent in order for the checks to be conducted.

Proper identification must be produced and recorded on the application: a government issued photo identification for the Primary Document, and a secondary document which verifies the Primary identification.

 

YOUTH CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS

Criminal record checks cannot be done on youth unless working in Government. It has been established that non-provincially or municipally run summer camps and pools, public/private schools including colleges/universities are not government employers.

Police received a report of disturbing the peace in Boissevain. Police attended and spoke with the parties involved and the matter was concluded.

 

August 10, 2024

Police responded to a call for disturbing the peace in Killarney. Police spoke with both parties involved, they were separated for the night and the complainant declined to proceed with any charges.

Police received a report of an off-road vehicle travelling on a highway in Killarney holding up traffic. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police responded to a call for a wellbeing check in Hartney. A female was located intoxicated and was causing a disturbance. Police arrested the female and lodged her in cells until sober.

Police responded to a call under the municipal bylaws act in Killarney. Police spoke with the parties involved and the matter was concluded.

Police responded to a 911 call for an assault in Ninette. A male was arrested and lodged in cells until sober. He was released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.

Police responded to a 911 call for mischief in Hartney. Police were able to speak with both parties involved and the matter was concluded.

 

August 11, 2024

Police responded to a 911 call under the fire prevention act in Killarney where a structure had caught fire. The fire was put out and there were no injuries. The fire was deemed to be caused by an electrical issue.

Police received a report for a suspicious person/vehicle in Killarney. The complainant was reporting for information purposes only.

Police received a report of another suspicious vehicle in the RM of Grassland. Police attended the location. The vehicle was parked, locked, and not reported stolen. Tape was placed around the vehicle mirror to indicate police had attended to check on the vehicle and the matter was concluded.

Police responded to a call under the mental health act in Cartwright.

Police received a report of a possible impaired driver in Ninette. Patrols were made however the vehicle was not located.

Police responded to a call for an assault in Killarney. A male was arrested and lodged in cells until sober. He was released without charges.

 

August 12, 2024

Police received a report of uttering threats in Waskada. The complainant was not looking to press charges and was just looking for advice. Police followed up with the complainant and provided additional information and options moving forward.

Police received a report of theft in the RM of Grassland. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police responded to a request for a wellbeing check in Ninette. An intoxicated female was located, arrested, and lodged in cells until sober. She was released with no charges.

Police responded to a call under the child welfare act in Boissevain. Police were able to speak to all parties involved, and the matter was concluded.

Police received a report of theft in Boissevain. Police spoke with both parties involved. The matter was unfounded.

 

August 13, 2024

Police received a report for an animal call in Killarney. Police followed up with the complainant however the situation was not a police matter.

Police received a report of fraud in Killarney. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police responded to a request for a wellbeing check in Cartwright. All parties were located safe.

Police received a report of a person driving while disqualified. Police patrolled the area however the vehicle was not located. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

 

August 14, 2024

Police received a report of mischief in Killarney. Police followed up with the complainant for additional details however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of harassing communications in the Municipality of Boissevain-Morton. The matter is under investigation.

 

August 15, 2024

Police received a report of a theft in Boissevain. Police followed up with all parties and there was insufficient evidence to proceed. Police provided the complainant with additional information moving forward.

Police received a report of mischief in Boissevain. There was insufficient evidence to proceed however additional patrols are being completed in the area.

 

August 16, 2024

Police received a report of theft in Waskada. The complainant was looking for advice. Police phoned the complainant back and provided additional information for moving forward.

Police received a report of fraud in Baldur. The complainant received a letter in the mail stating it was from cancer care with a phone number to call. The complainant phoned the number and was redirected to a message prompting them to get free medical alerts. No money was lost. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report under the child welfare act in Boissevain. The matter was concluded.

Police received a report of a break and enter in Killarney. The complainant was reporting for information purposes to have the stolen items on file. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police responded to a call under the public mischief act in Boissevain. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of a break and enter in Killarney. Nothing appeared to be missing. Police followed up with the complainant. The complainant was reporting for information purposes only.

Police responded to a 911 call for an assault with weapon in Goodlands. The matter is under investigation.

 

August 17, 2024

Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle in the RM of Argyle. The matter was concluded.

Police responded to a call for an assault in Killarney. A male was arrested and remanded into custody.

 

August 18, 2024

Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle in Margaret. Police patrolled the area however the vehicle was not located.

Police responded to a 911 call for an attempted theft in Killarney. Patrols were made in the area however the involved vehicle was not located. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of theft in Hartney. Police followed up with the complainant however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of a break and enter in Killarney. Police attended the location and spoke with the complainant. There is insufficient evidence to proceed at this time.

Police received a report of theft in Killarney. Police requested assistance from another police agency as it included their area. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

 

August 19, 2024

Police received a report of mischief in the RM of Killarney-Turtle Mountain. The complainant was provided with additional information for options moving forward.

Police responded to a 911 call for a motor vehicle collision in the RM of Argyle. A female was transported to the hospital as a precaution with minor injuries.

Police received a report of an unauthorized use of credit card in Boissevain. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of theft in the RM of Grassland. Police followed up with the complainant and the matter is under investigation.

Police received a report under the family orders and agreements act in Deloraine. Police followed up with the complainant and provided additional direction.

 

August 20, 2024

Police received a report of a theft of vehicle in Boissevain. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of mischief in Killarney. A suspect attempted to break into a vehicle but was unsuccessful. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of a theft of vehicle in Killarney. The vehicle was later located in Boissevain. The matter is under investigation.

Police received another report of a theft of vehicle in Killarney. The vehicle was later located in the RM of Killarney-Turtle Mountain. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of theft in Boissevain. A vehicle license plate was stolen. The license plate was later located by police.

Police responded to a motor vehicle collision in Cartwright. A male was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

 

August 21, 2024

Police responded to a 911 call for an assault in the RM of Prairie Lakes. The matter is under investigation.

Police responded to a call of uttering threats in Killarney. Police followed up with all parties involved however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of mischief in the RM of Grassland. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of fraud in Killarney. The complainant was reporting for information purposes only.

Police responded to a call for a missing person in Ninette. The person was located safe and was not missing.

Police received a report of a theft of gas in Boissevain. Police followed up with the complainant. The matter was accidental and had been resolved.

 

August 22, 2024

Police received a report of uttering threats in Killarney. The matter is under investigation.

Police responded to a call for harassing communications in Killarney. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of fraud in the RM of Prairie Lakes. The complainant had lost money in a crypto currency scam. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of an abandoned vehicle in the RM of Killarney-Turtle Mountain. Police patrolled the area however the vehicle was not located.

Police received a report of trespassing in the Municipality of Boissevain-Morton. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of an abandoned vehicle in Boissevain. Police located the vehicle, which was reported stolen. The vehicle was towed and the matter is under investigation.

Police received a request for a wellbeing check in Killarney. All parties were located safe.

Police responded to a call under the mental health act in Boissevain.

 

August 23, 2024

Police received a report of a possible fraud in Boissevain. Police followed up with the complainant and provided additional direction as the situation was not a police matter.

Police responded to a call under the fire prevention act in Margaret. The matter was concluded.

Police received a report of a suspicious person in the RM of Deloraine-Winchester. Police patrolled the area however the person was not located.

 

August 25, 2024

Police received a report of a suspicious person in Killarney. A male was located and was provided a ride home. The matter was concluded.

Police responded to a call for an assault in Dunrea. A male was arrested and released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date. 

 

August 26, 2024

Police responded to a call for an abandoned 911 call in Boissevain. All parties were located and police were not required.

Police received a report of mischief in the Municipality of Boissevain-Morton. There was insufficient evidence to proceed at this time.

 

August 26, 2024

Police responded to a call under the fire prevention act in Glenora. An electrical box had caused a fire that was put out. There were no injuries. Police departed and the matter was concluded.

Police received a report of a dangerous driver in Ninette. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of theft in the RM of Prairie Lakes. The matter is currently under investigation.

Police received another report of theft in the RM of Prairie Lakes. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of uttering threats in the Municipality of Boissevain-Morton. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle in the Margaret area. The matter is under investigation.

 

August 28, 2024

Police received a report a theft in Pleasant Valley. Multiple items were stolen. The matter is under investigation.

Police responded to an abandoned 911 call in Killarney. Members were not able to locate any parties needing police assistance.

 

August 29, 2024

Police received a report of theft in Killarney. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of fraud in Killarney. The complainant was receiving calls stating someone was taking money out of their visa account however there was no activity on their account. The caller claimed to be with the RCMP and wanted to meet with the complainant. The caller provided a fake badge number to the complainant. The complainant did not meet with the fraudulent caller. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of theft in the RM of Argyle. The matter is under investigation.

 

August 30, 2024

Police received a report of a suspicious person/vehicle in the RM of Grassland. The matter was concluded.

Police received a report of a vehicle that was taken without consent in Killarney. The matter is under investigation.

Police responded to a call under the mental health act in Killarney.

Police received a report of a person driving while disqualified in Boissevain. Patrols were made however the person and vehicle were not located. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of disturbing the peace in Killarney. Police attended but were unable to locate any disturbances. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

 

August 31, 2024

Police received a report of harassment in Deloraine. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of an abandoned vehicle in Waskada. The matter is under investigation.

Reminder:  It is important to report ALL thefts, stolen or lost property to police in a timely fashion so that it can be followed up on by police.

Police continue to remind residents to never provide personal information such as birth dates, SIN numbers, credit card numbers, or e-mail address to parties you do not know.  If you feel that you have been contacted by a fraudulent source, please contact police or Canadian AntiFraud Center immediately for further instructions on what you can do.  Canadian Antifraud Centre can be reached directly at 1-888-495-8501, however also report same to the local detachment.

Due to the many reports of vehicle thefts, the public is reminded to secure parked and unattended vehicles and refrain from leaving valuables in plain view.

We would like to advise that the business hours of operation at the Killarney Detachment are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. 

Boissevain Detachment business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
