The U14 Estevan Oilers had another thrilling weekend of football, securing their second win of the season with a 16-12 final against the Moose Jaw Vikings.

"It was a nail-biter, that's for sure. It was a fun game, but I could do with fewer heart problems after today," said Oilers head coach Christian Pfiefier, praising the defense for stepping up.

Pfiefer admitted the team started off rocky but eventually found its stride, turning it into a strong game for the Oilers. He emphasized the importance of playing with intensity from the opening whistle and maintaining that focus throughout the game.

"After that first score we gave up, the defence played lights out. Watching them perform like that made me so happy. We came away with some big turnovers when we needed them, and it turned into a defensive battle," he said.

Reflecting on the team's overall form, Pfiefier added, "We put together a great game against the Mafia last week, and although we had a rough start today, I thought it was a great performance."

Keiran Kyle echoed the coach's thoughts, noting how the team found its rhythm after halftime. "We weren’t in sync at the start, but once we got into the second half, we found our groove, and that led us to the win. On defence, we got a bunch of sacks, interceptions, and some blocks too. The offence did great and pulled out the win for us."
