Over the weekend, police in Estevan responded to a wide range of incidents, including multiple assaults, disturbances, and property-related calls. Key highlights include efforts to locate suspects, address community concerns, and resolve various disputes.

On September 6, police investigated reports of suspicious activity around businesses on the east end of the city. Property representatives and owners are reminded to remain vigilant and report thefts. Additionally, a report was received about theft of electrical services on the west end. The property owner, who had stretched a cord to a neighboring residence, was warned about this action.

Police also responded to an assault report, with statements being gathered and available video reviewed. The incident remains under investigation. A suspicious male reported looking in windows of an apartment complex on the north side could not be located by police. An alarm at a local business prompted a response; the property was found unsecured, checked, and secured by a key holder.

On September 7, police dealt with a break and enter at a downtown business, with the suspect identified and the investigation ongoing. Later, a disturbance at a local restaurant led to the arrest of a male for trespassing after he refused to leave when asked. He was charged and released with a future court date. In a separate restaurant-related incident, an Estevan male was arrested for causing a disturbance and mischief; he was lodged in cells while support arrangements were made.

Police also addressed two child custody disputes where neither party had a custody order or agreement. Both were advised that police involvement requires a custody order with a specific police action clause and provided guidance on obtaining such an order through the Family Law Division of the King’s Bench Court.

An individual was assisted in retrieving property from another individual involved in a dispute. The matter was mediated, and the property was returned. Police also investigated a potential scam involving an e-transfer deposit for a vehicle advertised on Marketplace, with the seller no longer responding. This matter remains under investigation.

Additionally, a 120-day driver’s license suspension was issued to an individual who tested positive for narcotics. A 27-year-old male from Lampman was arrested for breaching his conditional sentence order and was found in possession of narcotics; he was remanded to appear in court in Estevan.

On September 8, police investigated a report of mischief on Lynd Crescent, involving damage to the community garden. They also responded to a motor vehicle collision on King Street, where no injuries were reported, one vehicle was towed, and one driver was charged with driving without due care and attention.

A 17-year-old from Estevan was charged with assault following an incident from Friday afternoon, and the investigation continues along with a separate complaint of uttering threats. Police also addressed a report of a youth on the roof of an elementary school; the youth was made to come down and warned about their actions. A disturbance in the city centre was mediated by police.

Additionally, police responded to a report of a male who punched a taxi and then entered a bar. The responsible male was identified and warned; no damage was caused. The taxi driver was informed about the situation. Finally, police assisted the Carnduff Detachment of the RCMP with an assault investigation, checking several locations and attempting to intercept the suspect en route to Estevan. As of the shift change, the suspect had not been located, and the investigation is ongoing.
