The evening of September 7th the Weyburn Police Service, alongside the Weyburn Fire Department and EMS, attended a collision at the intersection of Highway 39 and Third Street.

Corporal Riley Doud says a southbound SUV was struck by a semi-truck heading southeast. The SUV then collided with a north-facing SUV stopped at the intersection.

“As a result of the investigation, the driver of the semi was charged with disobeying a red light under the Traffic Safety Act. Both drivers of the SUV were seen by EMS on the scene and treated for minor injuries. The driver of the semi did not receive any injuries.”

Cpl. Doud reminds all motorists to be aware when driving and obey all traffic lights and signs.

The Weyburn Police Service responded to 71 calls for service this week. In total 20 charges were laid with two under the Criminal Code of Canada, 15 under the Traffic Safety Act, two under the Trespass to Property Act and one under the City of Weyburn Bylaw.
