Wow! Another incredible Fall Colours Shine & Shine was presented by the Cochrane Classic Car Club
Categories

Thousands of people checked out an incredible selection of hot rides and vintage vehicles during the annual show and shine of the Cochrane Classic Car Club in the heart of Cochrane's Historic Downtown on Sept. 8.

Brett Braaten, of the classic car club, says 260 vehicles filled the downtown core in the sold-out show and they had to turn away 50 vehicles.

"Today's been absolutely fantastic. The sun's out and we have a very eclectic group of cars here. We got a little bit from every style and every decade., some real exclusive ones and some real fancy ones," he says.

"The numbers have only moved a little just because of the access to downtown, but it gets better and better every time they finish a project and hopefully, we'll be able to get more room to expand it a little bit in the future years."

Jim Crittenden
Jim Crittenden brought his 1968 Lotus 51B which he continues to race in the vintage circuit.

Jim Crittenden came along as a spectator last year when his friend brought an MG to the show.

He was so impressed that this year that he brought his 1968 Lotus 51B.

"It's great that they do this downtown here, he says.

Crittenden says he has been on the vintage race circuit for at least 25 years. He's done all the tracks in Alberta, entered races in B.C. and a few years back competed at the 50th anniversary of the Road America series in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.

"It was an amazing track and there were hundreds of these there."

He says it's a relatively inexpensive racer and what little maintenance is required he does on his own.

The 51B is an important part of the history of Formula Ford racing, and evolved from the original Lotus 51, which was one of the first cars specifically built for the Formula Ford series.

morgan aero
1938 Morgan Aero is a classy three-wheel cycle car.

England's Henry Morgan created a three-wheel cyclecar to open the roads to more people. At the time, trikes were allowed to avoid tax, making it more affordable for commoners.

The 1938 model on display was a Morgan Aero Super Sport Beetle Back. It's a five speed with a 1,100cc engine and its owner continues to ride it with some pretty impressive performances.

Morgan produced his first three-wheeler in 1909, and they remain in production to this day.

Winners of the show's awards will be announced soon.
