It's a celebratory kind of week in Morris, with two significant anniversaries being noted. The first was Sunday, with Mayor Scott Crick attending the 50th anniversary of the Red River Valley Lodge.

"Such a great event to be at because of all the history in terms of how the Lodge came about, the local fundraising, the desire to have it happen within the community and all the lives it's touched for all the people who lived there over the last fifty years," shared the Mayor. "It really, truly seems like a family and it's great that as a as a community, we do get together and celebrate these things.

Also coming up this week is the diamond anniversary of Morris Manor with an event Thursday afternoon.

"This Thursday, September 12th at 4 p.m., the Morris Manor is having its 60th anniversary celebration," he noted. "It has been a real success story over the last three to four years. I know the board has worked very hard, including our citizens, and it has been a great success story, so I know they want to celebrate the revitalization of the facility and they would love to have people there to celebrate with them."

In this week's In the Mayor's Chair, Scott Crick also touched on the community's Truth and Reconciliation Committee hosting an event September 25th at the Morris Multiplex, as well as a couple safety reminders. You can hear it all, below.
