Two Red Deer residents have been arrested on multiple charges (file photo)

On August 26, 2024 at approximately 3:00 a.m., Red Deer RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter at a property located in the Parkvale area of the city.

Upon arrival, officers observed multiple suspects fleeing the area in an attempt to evade police. The suspects were apprehended a short distance way.

During a search of the individuals, officers recovered a revolver firearm, ammunition, a retractable baton, bear spray, currency, drugs, and other items consistent with drug trafficking. As a result of this investigation, Red Deer RCMP have charged two individuals.

Jeremy Sanderson-Hayward, a 37-year-old resident of Red Deer, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking x3
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose x2
  • Carrying concealed weapon
  • Possession of property obtained by crime less than $5000
  • Obstruct peace officer
  • Fail to comply with probation order x2

Jeremy Sanderson-Hayward was taken before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody. He appeared in court on August 29, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.

Mark Ditchburn, a 34-year-old resident of Red Deer, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking x2
  • Carry concealed weapon
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

Mark Ditchburn was taken before a Justice of the Peace and was released on a release order. He is scheduled to appear in court on September 25, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
