High River's historic Wales Theater is up for sale for over $1 million.
What was originally the Highwood Theater back when it first opened in 1927 was built to host both live theatre and movies.
At the time of its opening, it was considered one of the most luxurious and best-equipped theatres at the time, boasting upholstered Chesterfield chairs originally from England, chromium and plate glass tiles in the foyer, ornate ceiling, air conditioning, and hardwood floors.
In 1935 the name was changed from the Highwood Theatre to the Wales, honouring Edward, Prince of Wales.
Since the year 2000, it's been owned by the Kidwai family of High River, who oversaw a few upgrades to the theatre, as well as extensive repair work that had to be done after it was damaged in the 2013 flood.
The listing includes a two-bedroom residential suite and houses a space currently being leased to the Domino's Pizza location next door.
