Fuel Good Day is taking place tomorrow, Tuesday, September 17, and once again, it will support local not-for-profit organizations. Shannon Vaughan, Marketing and Communications Manager for Homestead Co-op, outlines this year's recipients.

"Our 2024 recipients are the Clearwater Memorial Playground Project in Carman, Portage Friendship Centre's Tools for School program, and the Visions of Independence Living Program. Ten cents per litre of fuel will be shared between these three local Fuel Good Day recipients."

She explains the recipients are selected from applications collected in May each year, which are reviewed by a Fuel Good Day committee.

"Fuel Good Day has been happening since 2017. In 2023, across Western Canada, we raised $645,000, and 168 organizations were selected as recipients. Since 2017, Fuel Good Day has raised more than $4.2 million, supporting over 870 local organizations across Western Canada."

Vaughan adds that the program has been quite successful and extends her thanks to Co-op members and customers across Western Canada who help out by stopping in on that day.

"We will also be holding a barbecue fundraiser for the groups in Carman at the Homestead Carman Gas Bar, and we’ll offer an interior car cleaning service from 10:00 a.m. until 2 p.m. at our River Road Gas Bar in Portage that day."

The same three organizations will benefit from proceeds of fuel purchases at gas bars in Austin, Carman, MacGregor, Oakville, and Portage la Prairie.
