Residents of Diamond Valley are being asked to be aware of what they toss into the garbage.

Recently, the Town took to Facebook to remind Diamond Valley residents that certain things don't belong in the garbage bin, including batteries, paint cans, automotive fluid, oils, pesticides, herbicides, and any other hazardous waste.

Those items need to be disposed of in a safe manner, so they don't spill and become a threat to animals, plants, and human health.

They can be brought to the Regional Landfill, where they will be properly sorted, packed, and transported by qualified and approved staff.

The Diamond Valley Transfer Station will be hosting a Recycle Roundup on Saturday, September 14th, where people can bring in their hazardous materials and household electronics, which also contain hazardous materials.

While the Foothills Regional Landfill and Resource Recovery Centre will accept household hazardous waste, if anyone brings in 20 litres or more of hazardous waste, it may get rejected or have an additional surcharge added onto the cost of dropping the materials off.
