The High River Flyers with the HJHL have announced that former GM and head coach Colten Hayes has accepted a new role as being the assistant coach for the Olds Grizzlys of the AJHL.

Hayes spent three seasons with the Flyers dating back to the 2018-2019 season when he first was introduced to the coaching staff. He would then earn the GM title in the 2019-2020 season before coaching the Okotoks Oilers U18 AA and the Foothills Bisons U18 AA teams in the next two seasons.

Hayes then returned to the team as the head coach and GM last season in what was one of the High River Flyers' best seasons to date.

"Colten did a great job of this last year in our 100th year. Really pushed the boys. We had a great season, we couldn't ask for more, really. With the hard work that Colten put in, we are delighted that he's moving up. We are going to miss him greatly, but it's what he deserves. From the Flyers organization, we would like to thank Colten and congratulate him and wish him all the best in the upcoming season," Tim Bradbury, President of the Flyers said.

Hayes runs a skill camp for hockey players with his Coast 2 Coast camp and has a plethora of experience in the sport of hockey. He played in the ECHL, BCHL, CHL, and the AJHL during his playing career. In the 2010-2011 season, Hayes played for the Okotoks Oilers and posted 54 points in 55 games.
