The Winnipeg Richardson International Airport will be abuzz with emergency vehicles on Thursday, but it's nothing to be alarmed about.
The Winnipeg Airport Authority is conducting a live emergency exercise, which will see increased emergency activity at the airport, including emergency response personnel, emergency vehicles, and airport equipment on the airfield.
This will not affect the day-to-day operations at the airport, and if the weather or other operational issues arise, the exercise will be postponed.
"Our top priority is the safety and security of WAA and airport employees, passengers, and other visitors," said the Airport Authority in a press release.
These emergency exercises are run regularly throughout the year to test protocols, procedures, communications, and planning for emergency and security-related incident
Today's exercise will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
