Aldon Oils Ltd. has spanned two generations. Founded in 1974 by Norman Mondor, whose son Del took the reins in 2011.

President and CEO of Aldon Oils, Del Mondor, said, "my dad certainly is a bigger part of the story than I am. It's been a long and pleasurable journey."

Giving back to the community has been an ongoing tradition for the Mondor family.

"We have been blessed in business, and I think it's just kind of an attitude that it's our ability to do so," shared Del Mondor. "So I think we feel obligated in some way to make sure that we look after our community."

"In addition to our normal charitable donations for the year, we wanted to mark our 50th anniversary with something special, so we took $50,000 and really wanted to put it into the hands of community builders."

Mondor said Aldon Oils has been closely involved with the Weyburn Oilwomen Association, with two of the staff, as well as wives of other staff being members of the club.

"They're just well-meaning hard-working ladies that want to build and be part of building Weyburn into a better place," he shared. "And what better place than that to give half the donation?"

The other $25,00 was presented to the Young Fellows Club of Weyburn, another service group, "that has been part of building and making Weyburn a better place for over 100 years. We've got close relations with them and we just trust them to know what to do and put the horsepower behind the donation."

Mondor added his company wants to be associated with community builders.

"That's why we selected them to go forward. There were no strings attached. We just said, 'go and do good things'."

Ray Jarvis, President of the Young Fellows Club of Weyburn, said, "It was an extremely generous donation."

As with all the other money that is raised and donated by the club, Jarvis said the funds are not yet specifically allocated, as it has been added into their reserve and then distributed as clubs and organizations apply for funding.
