The Living Heritage Pilot Project was launched in 2023. The City of Humboldt’s Cultural Services department worked with the Office of the Treaty Commissioner, Heritage Saskatchewan and Aboriginal Friendship Centres. The idea for the year long project was to connect the region’s own living heritage with the Calls to Action from the Truth and Reconciliation. The project included 17 events over the course of the year with over 800 participants.

This Thursday, September 19 at 7 pm, the Humboldt and District Gallery hosts a conversation to discuss the project and decide on further activities to promote Reconciliation in Humboldt and Area. Researcher David Siebert from Heritage Saskatchewan will be on hand to discuss findings which have emerged from the project.

Also returning will be Rhett Sangster from the Office of the Treaty Commissioner to talk about the history and meaning of Treaty 6. Attendees will have a chance to ask questions about Treaties, protocol and relation building.

The evening promises a rich exploration of the past, present and future of Reconciliation in Humboldt.
