About two dozen local businesses accepted resumes Thursday during a Fall Job Fair hosted by the Lacombe Employment Centre.

The event was held at the Lacombe Centre Mall.

Program Manager Monika Rondeel revealed Lacombe hasn't hosted a job fair in over a decade.

"We've had a lot of people say that they would like to have a job fair here in Lacombe because they can't get into Red Deer because transportation is an issue," she commented.

Monika Rondeel was pleased with the turnout during Thursday's Fall Job Fair held at the Lacombe Centre Mall.

Some of the booths set up included the Canadian Armed Forces, the Lacombe Fire Department, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Correctional Service Canada, Alberta Recreation and Parks Association, the John Howard Society, the Lacombe & District Chamber of Commerce and many more.

Rondeel stated that the job climate in and around Lacombe has shifted over the past year.

"Since about November the atmosphere has changed and it's more of an employer's market right now and I'm saying that just because jobs are filling quicker and there's more people that are very engaged in their job search."

The Lacombe Employment Centre is located in the Lacombe Centre Mall and provides free walk-in employment support services. The centre houses a local job board where employers can post their job openings. There are computers and printers available to the public free of charge to help search for employment, as well as a photocopier for resumes. The Lacombe Employment Centre also offers one-on-one services for those that require.
