Farnel, Melvin
1949 - 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Melvin Joseph 'Joe' Farnel, surrounded by his loved ones, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, on Tuesday, July 23rd at the age of 74 years.
Joe was born on December 29, 1949, to Joseph and Janet Farnel. He spent his adult years hard at work, driving truck, construction, and running various other heavy equipment. Joe could always be counted on to give a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He was quite witty in his own mind, and loved nothing better than teasing those around him, or pulling off a practical joke. He loved hot rods and loud music, the louder the better. He also had a love of animals but was especially passionate about horses and dogs. He loved watching his granddaughter, Emily, at Horse Shows and spending time at the farm, interacting with all the critters.
Joe will be lovingly remembered by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Jackie; his sons, Joseph 'Joe', and John; his grandchildren, the twinkle of his eyes, Emily, Rylan and Illyas. He will also be remembered by his bonus children, Jessie and Justin, and a bonus grandson, Devin, along with his many nieces and nephews.
Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Janet, his brothers, Alan and Tom, and his sister, Margaret.
If desired, Memorial Donations in Joe's honour may be made directly to the ALS Society of Central and Southern Alberta at www.alsab.ca .
