The annual High River LDS food drive has almost arrived on your doorstep.

Starting Wednesday, you'll start to see grocery bags placed on the front doors of homes along with a request for food donations.

Organizer Cathy Anderson says the people of High River have been coming through for the last 18 years.

"Our community just loves the community, and it might be our church that leads up the event, but it couldn't be successful without the whole town of High River."

Anderson says the food drive for the High River Salvation Army Food Bank continues to grow each year "You know, we collect between 12 and 13 thousand pounds of food each year... and that is mindboggling."

And yes, there will be grocery bags for one more year to use as they had a stockpile, so look for those appearing next Wednesday.

Anderson also reminds you to please check expiration dates as they cannot give expired items out.

Once all the bags are filled volunteers swing by on Saturday to pick them up.

All donations are then taken to the High River Salvation Army Food Bank.
