It will be a chance to bridge new connections within our community over a series of events.

The Humboldt Regional Newcomer Centre will be holding their Welcome Week, beginning tonight and will have a series of events planned over the next week.

Tonight (Friday, Sept.13), there will be a showing of the movie Little Rascals at Elizabeth Park beginning at 8:30. With the less-than-ideal weather in the forecast, you should keep an eye on the Humboldt Regional Newcomer Centre’s Facebook page for the latest status on the movie viewing.

There will be a chance to network on Tuesday morning at 10 am as the Regional Newcomer Centre will be hosting a conservation and refreshments event. Later in the afternoon, some of the members will be taking part in the Cultural Showcase at the Humboldt Public School.

Another opportunity for socializing will be on Wednesday with a come and go with coffee and snacks from 9-12.

It will be an evening outdoors on Thursday with Nature Journalling at Humboldt Campground at 6:30.

To wrap up the week, some members will be taking a trip on Friday, September 20 to Last Mountain Regional Park to spend time at the Bird Observatory.

Organizer Eilish McAnally says the welcome week serves as a great way to build a connection with members of the Newcomer Centre.

“A way to foster and collaboration between immigrants and non-immigrants, it’s a way for organizations to showcase how they are welcoming.”

The Welcome Week with the Humboldt Regional Newcomer Centre is aided with the help of other organizations as McAnally explains including Sask. Lotteries, Prairie Central District, Sask. Outdoors, Nature Saskatchewan, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada, Connecting Grids Regional Immigration Partnership, and the Newcomer Centre.

All the events are open to the public, except the Cultural Showcase at the Humboldt Public School and the trip to the Last Mountain Bird Sanctuary.
