Melvin Carl Bolen
July 8, 1947 – September 13, 2024
Mel passed away on September 13th gently with family by his side, in a beautiful green space at their Ranchita. A kind and compassionate nurse from MAID (Dying with Dignity) was there to facilitate. A Master Potter of over 50 years, Mel’s creativity and dedication inspired many. His functional and sculptural pieces are in private and public collections in many countries. Over the years, Mel and Karen built many fond memories welcoming the public and friends into their renovated church/home and North Star Gallery. He lived a full life and often said he was a rich man because of the wonderful friends he had. His one liners and whacky sense of humor will live on in many. He had a tremendous respect for nature and it’s wildlife. He planted thousands of trees. In lieu of flowers, etc, Mel would love it if you would plant a tree. Mel is survived by his wife of 47 years, Karen; his son Amiya (Ingrid) and brother Pat. An Ash Ceremony will take place with family at a later date. Thank you for your friendship and support over his 77 years.
