Alberta Parks has issued a cougar warning for the Boulton Creek Campground after a cougar was spotted.

A warning has been issued in Kananaskis Country after a cougar was spotted at a campground. 

Boulton Creek Campground in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, is under a cougar warning due to the sighting. 

The warning will be in effect until further notice. 

The campground is approximately 50 kilometres south of the TransCanada Highway on Highway 40.

Alberta Parks warns that cougars may be encountered anywhere in the Kananaskis Region, at any time.

To reduce the risk of a surprise cougar encounter, Alberta Parks advises making plenty of noise, traveling in groups, staying alert to your surroundings, watching and listening for signs of cougars, and keeping pets on a leash.

All cougar sightings should be immediately reported to 403-591-7755.
