David “Dave” Bernard Freriks
September 4, 1961 – September 10, 2024
It is with profound sadness that the family of David “Dave” Bernard Freriks of Humboldt, SK, announces his death on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. He was 63 years of age. David was born to Casper and Rosella “Sally” (nee Loessl) Freriks on September 4, 1961, in Biggar, SK. He was the oldest of three siblings, brother Duane (pre-deceased) and sister Lorenda (Thimm). David’s passion for farming began at a young age, and at 16 he worked at a nearby farm. For many years, he farmed both grain and pig with his father and brother. His favorite time was harvest where he could be found on the TR98 working alongside the Nagy brothers and his father-in-law. David fulfilled his dream of becoming a Red Seal Mechanic and worked at Humboldt Motors/Discovery Ford for 27 years. He also worked at a few other places in the surrounding area. His most enjoyed journey ended with truck #41, in the summer of 2023 at Brockman Ent. Dave was a jack-of-all-trades. He had a gift of working with his hands which showed in his day-to-day life and his hobbies. In his spare time, he’d either be tinkering in the shop or engineering something from scratch. Those who knew him, knew he was a FORD man, and no better tools were those of Snap-On. David enjoyed being with friends and family whether it was camping, snowmobiling, or slow drives along the back roads, as long as there’s a solo cup with Bacardi white rum and Pepsi, life was good. David will be deeply missed by those who knew his humorous personality, his enormous heart, and love for his family, especially his nine grandkids. David will by lovingly missed by his wife of 41 years, Joan; their three kids and their families: son Tyler (Jodie) – Makenna, Harper and Rhedden, daughter Nicole (Braeden) Pappenfoot – Brynlee, Brielle and Lydia, and daughter Katelyn (Aaron) Wallin – Zaylee, Briggsten and Madelyn; as well as extended family and friends. The Funeral Service was held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Humboldt, on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Al Hingley. The eulogy was delivered by Donna Lumley and Doreen Melnyk. Urnbearers were Joan, Tyler, Nikki, and Katie. The Inurnment took place at St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Cemetery in the Pilger district.
