It's informative, entertaining, educational and I look forward to the publication of the latest edition each and every year.

The 2025 Old Farmer's Almanac - Canadian Edition, is on book shelves and magazine racks across the country right now.

Founded in 1792 by Robert B. Thomas, the almanac draws on the wisdom of our predecessors, the same way it has for over two centuries now.

And, while times have changed and technology has made for more accurate weather forecasts, the people at the OFA still use same formula that Mr. Thomas used in the 1700s to make his predictions while taking into consideration factors like global warming.

They're calling for a cool, wet winter for southern Saskatchewan with a cold and snowy season on the way for a strip of central Saskatchewan and a cold and dry winter up north.

And, while the 2024 almanac makes no mention of snow this month or next, the new edition predicts above average precipitation for November on the prairies with the first snowfall expected the first week of November with our first heavy snow to arrive between the 17th and 22nd.

Oh, and they also predict heavy snow and bitter cold between Christmas and New Year's Day.

You heard it here first!
