The Morden Activity Centre wants to invite you to its LUNGtivity program, which began on September 9 and continues to offer valuable support to local residents. The program, designed to improve lung health and breath control, is set to hold its next session today, September 16, with subsequent sessions continuing each Monday at 1:30 PM.
Led by Karen McElroy from Menzies Medical Centre, LUNGtivity provides an eight-week series of exercises focused on enhancing lung capacity and diaphragm awareness. The program caters to individuals with lung conditions such as COPD, long COVID, pulmonary fibrosis, or asthma, as well as anyone experiencing breathlessness during daily activities.
"Lungtivity is a fantastic opportunity for our community to address lung health proactively," said Kaitlin Funk, Senior Resource Communicator at the Morden Activity Centre. "With Karen McElroy's expertise, participants can expect a supportive environment to improve their respiratory function."
Funk emphasized the inclusivity of the program, noting, “LUNGtivity is for anyone with a lung condition such as COPD, long COVID, pulmonary fibrosis, or asthma. It’s also ideal for those who feel breathless during their daily activities. If you find yourself struggling to catch your breath, this program is definitely for you.”
The next LUNGtivity session will take place this afternoon at 1:30 PM, with additional sessions scheduled for every Monday. The program is free of charge, but attendees are encouraged to register in advance to secure their spot. Registration can be completed by calling 822-4474 ext. 4410 or by emailing Karen McElroy at kmcelroy@menziesmedical.ca.
"We’ve already seen a positive response from the community," Funk added. "We’re looking forward to welcoming more participants who can benefit from this valuable program."
Don’t miss the opportunity to improve your lung health and join a supportive community. The next LUNGtivity session is today, and the program will continue every Monday for the next six weeks at 1:30 PM at the Morden Activity Centre.
