Mother nature has recently blessed Portage la Prairie with above-seasonal days, and that trend looks to continue this week.
Christy Climenhaga, a Scientist with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), says it will be an interesting and unsettled week across much of the province, especially parts of southern Manitoba.
"We are looking at pretty warm temperatures in that 25 to 28° range for Tuesday and Wednesday, and to put that in perspective, you should see daily highs around 18° or so at this point, with the lows at about 6 degrees. So, it will be well above normal for the next couple of days until we start to see a little change in the pattern by about Thursday."
While we will be warm for this time of year, Climenhaga says that if you have plans to be outside, you should look at the forecast to see if thunderstorms are developing in the area.
"It is possible to see the risk of some very slow-moving storms Monday night in parts of Manitoba, which could drop a lot of rainfall. It'll be kind of hard to pinpoint exactly where we'll see the most."
She notes that ECCC expects another system to move through later in the week, starting Wednesday evening and carrying through Friday morning.
"It doesn't look like the amounts of rain will be overly alarming, about 5 to 10mm range, but it will be a bit of a soggier end of the week."
