The High River Flyers started hot in the HJHL pre-season, winning their first two games but then falling twice this weekend to end with a .500 win percentage.

The Flyers took on the Airdrie Techmation Thunder on Friday night (Sept. 13) and were handed a 7-3 loss. The Flyers got their first goal in the second period and then followed up with two more in the third, but it wasn't enough to get past the Thunder in Airdrie.

The Agra Risk Wheatland Kings then hosted the final pre-season game on Saturday in Strathmore and carried the momentum from the win against the Okotoks Bisons the day prior, taking the game 4-1 against the Flyers. High River led in the shot count with 33-25 but could only find the back of the net once which came in the first period.

The Flyers have yet to play at home and won't be able to until at least November 1 since renovations are being done at the Bob Snodgrass Rec Plex.

They'll play their season opener against the Bisons at Murray Arena on Friday (Sept. 20) with a puck drop of 8:00 p.m.
