A fan favourite of the Green Army won't be back on the team this season.
Sam Huck has taken his talents to the USHL.
Huck, who got cheers anytime he touched the ice, became the second all-time point leader for the Okotoks Oilers. Huck is just one point back from Kyle Reynolds, who currently holds the title of most points in an Oilers uniform. Huck posted 71 goals, and 98 assists for 164 career total points for the Green and Gold.
Huck played a total of three seasons across 2021-2024 and showcased his skill with his speed which created scoring opportunities for himself as well as his teammates.
He was set to start with the Fargo Force of the USHL, but on Saturday, the Waterloo Black Hawks expressed interest in his services and completed a trade which was Huck and 2025 fourth-round draft pick for Eero Butella and a sixth-round 2025 draft pick.
"(Sam's) skating will be a real asset with how we want to dictate play," Waterloo GM Bryn Chyzyk said on Twitter.
