Firefighter injured in Fort Rouge blaze

A firefighter was injured while battling a fire Monday evening in Fort Rouge.

The blaze broke out just before 11 p.m. in a vacant two-storey residential structure in the 700 block of Mulvey Avenue.

When crews arrived, smoke was pouring out of the building. It took firefighters about an hour to get it under control. 

Crews searched the building and found no one inside. 

One firefighter was injured at the scene. They were assessed by paramedics but did not require a trip to the hospital.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
